   Site & Dates -- 2004 WADA Workshop

  The WADA’s 38th Annual Workshop will be held on

 

Saturday-Sunday-Monday-Tuesday, Nov. 6-7-8-9, 2004.

 

 

 The Green Bay Packers have a bye during the 2004 WADA Workshop, and,

 

the Monday Night NFL game on Nov. 8 is Minnesota at Indianapolis.

 

 

  Keynote Speakers:  Kevin Borseth, Dr. Gregory Dale

 

 

Two well-known and nationally respected individuals will be the keynote speakers

at each of two sessions for next month’s WADA Workshop in Appleton.

 

Kevin Borseth, the women’s basketball coach at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, and Dr. Gregory A. Dale, associate professor and sport psychology consultant

at Duke University, will each speak when the 38th annual WADA Workshop takes place Nov. 7-8-9 at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel.

 

Borseth will be the keynote speaker for the Opening Session on Sunday afternoon,

Nov. 7.  His talk will be “Coaching Coaches.” 

 

Dale will be the keynote speaker on the morning of Monday, Nov. 8.  His talk will

focus on “Developing the Credible Coach – A Model for Success.”

  Dennis Krause to speak at FCA Breakfast

 

 

Dennis Krause, a long time sportscaster at WTMJ TV in Milwaukee who is now at Concordia University, will speak at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Breakfast
at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 9, during the 38th annual WADA Workshop.
His presentation will be “Dealing with Adversity.”

  Darron Sutton is MC for WADA Awards Banquet

 

 

Darron Sutton, the voice of the Milwaukee Brewers, will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the

WADA Awards Luncheon for the 38th annual

WADA Workshop.

 

The luncheon will be on Monday, Nov. 8, when the prestigious WADA awards will be presented.

The event takes place at the Paper Valley Hotel in Appleton from Nov. 7-9.

 

Included in the awards to be presented:  the WADA Years of Service awards,

four special awards:  Andy Anderson Award to Mike Younggren of Wausau East,

the NIAAA State Award of Merit award to Barb Deichl of Waterford;

the Retired Athletic Director Award of Merit to Jim Scandin, and the
NFHS Citation Nominee of Don Dalton; the District Athletic Director

of the Year awards, and, the State Athletic Director of the Year award.

 

The awards are sponsored by HEALY.  The luncheon is sponsored by

SPORTS WISCONSIN.COM

 

 

  WADA Vice President to be elected during Workshop

 

 

The position of Vice President with the WADA will be voted upon            NEW

during the 38th annual WADA Workshop to be held Nov. 7-8-9
at the Paper Valley Hotel in downtown Appleton.

 

It is a 4-year commitment to the WADA, as the person selected by the

WADA membership will serve one year each, in order, as Vice President,

President Elect, President, and Past President.

 

The election will take place during the WADA Annual Meeting, which is

scheduled to start at 9 o’clock Tuesday morning, Nov. 9.  Jeff Sitz of

Wisconsin Lutheran High School will preside over the election, which will
also include the election of NIAAA Delegates.

 

Bill Vickroy, the Athletic Director at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School,

has filed a letter of intent with the WADA for the Vice President position.

  Spouse / Guest Program

 

 

       “IT’S A SURPRISE PARTY”                               NEW

Things went  well last year and responses were great!  This year, there will once again be time for socializing, camaraderie, creating new and fascinating projects, and last – but not least – shopping.

 

For those who register, a packet of information, schedule for the weekend, and your nametag will be available at the main WADA Registration Table.  Just look for the Spouse/Guest sign.

 

Again this year, we will have a joint hospitality room hosted in room 2014 – with the Spouse/Guest time being Sunday, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.  Come and check out the schedule for the weekend.

 

If you’ve attended the Workshop in the past, we hope you have enjoyed yourself and

plan on coming back.  If you are a first timer, we welcome you and know you’ll have a great time.  Looking forward to seeing all of you in Appleton

  Bill Cosby to perform in Appleton on Friday, Nov. 5

 

 

Anyone who will attend the WADA Workshop in November may want to include

plans to see Bill Cosby on Friday, Nov. 5, when he performs in Appleton.  Come

early (the Workshop is Nov. 6-7-8-9) to enjoy one of the most influential stars in

America, as Cosby will be at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center… 1 block from

the WADA Workshop site.   Tickets became available on Friday, June 11; contact

the PAC at 1--800--236-4114 or (920) 734-3358 for ticket info.  Tickets may

be ordered on-line at the PAC web site link below.  Shows will be at 7:00 and 9:30

on Friday evening, Nov. 5.  Order your tickets ASAP.  They WILL go fast!!

   Registration -- for 2004 WADA Workshop

 

Registrations packets were mailed in September.  If  you did not receive a packet,

and would like to register for the 2004 Workshop, please contact Joe Beran, the AD

   Hotel--Housing -- for 2004 Workshop – Paper Valley

 

 

Hotel / Housing info for the 2004 WADA Workshop was released in September

with the Registration packs.  Room options at the 2004 Workshop site, the Radisson

Paper Valley Hotel in downtown Appleton, are 3-fold:  single at $77, double at $77,

or concierge at $107.

 

Each person needing housing must make his/her own arrangements with the hotel.

Call 1--800--242-3499 for reservations -- or return, by Oct. 4, the lodging request

form that was included in the Workshop Registration Packet. 

 

Children stay free in parents room, extra person $10 per day, cot $10 per day.

Check-in time is 3:00 p.m.   Check-out is 12 noon.

There will be 3 courses offered on Sunday plus the CAA exam, and, another 3 courses

    Annual Meeting – held during WADA Workshop

 

 

The WADA Annual Meeting will be held Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 9:00 a.m. as part of

the 38th annual WADA Workshop, to be held at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel

in downtown Appleton.

 

 

 

An individual with experience in parliamentary procedures is needed for the
WADA Annual Meeting from 9:00-10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 9, in Appleton

during the WADA Workshop.
