Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association (WADA)

New WADA Board Members are installed

By Mike Bates

Information Coordinator, WADA

            Mark Kryka of Verona assumed the duties of President of the
Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association (WADA) during the final day of
the 38th annual WADA Workshop held in Appleton in November.

Pete Miller, now the Past-President, presented Kryka with the official WADA gavel and WADA ring in the traditional  “Passing-of-the-Presidency” ceremony during the Windup Luncheon… the final event of the 4-day Workshop.

Jeff Sitz of Wisconsin Lutheran is now the President-Elect of the WADA.

Bill Vickroy of Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School was chosen as the WADA
Vice President in voting by the WADA membership.  It is a 4-year commitment, as the person selected will serve one year each, in order, as Vice President, President Elect, President, and Past President.  Jeff Sitz presided over the election, which took place during the WADA Annual Meeting.

Also, elections were held in three Districts, at the respective Fall Caucus in November during the Workshop,
and the voting resulted in the following being selected to serve
a 2-year term for the WADA:
             District 2:  Pam Huston, Wausau West (District Rep) & Paul Johnson, Rhinelander;
             District 4:  Carl Eggebrecht, Waupaca (District Rep) & Kathy Bates, Xavier;
             District 6:  Jim Kluge, Badger (District Rep) &
Signe Schecher, Mayville.

            The NIAAA Liaison for Wisconsin is now a member of the WADA Board, and Barb Deichl, CAA, of Waterford was selected to that position.

Also, the proposed changes in the WADA bylaws met with approval by the WADA membership during the Annual Meeting.  An annual review of the bylaws is delegated by the WADA Board, and it was determined by a special committee that a thorough review of the bylaws was needed to adequately reflect the changes and growth made by the association.

            The WADA Board expressed its appreciation to the committee, particularly chairperson
Linzi Gronning of Holmen, for the many hours of work put in by the committee to provide the WADA membership with the amendments.  Other committee members:  John Frizzell of Wisconsin Dells, Brian Smith of Waunakee, Greg Smith of West De Pere and Todd Sobrilsky of Beaver Dam.

The WADA bylaws may be reviewed on the WADA web site: www.wadawi.org.

            The Workshop was held at the Paper Valley Hotel in downtown Appleton, and over
400 individuals from around the state were on hand.
