Kevin Borseth, Dr. Gregory Dale to
speak
at annual WADA Workshop in November
By Mike Bates
Information Coordinator, WADA
Two well-known and nationally respected individuals
will be the
keynote speakers at each of two sessions for next month’s WADA Workshop
in Appleton.
Kevin Borseth, the women’s basketball coach at
the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, and Dr. Gregory A. Dale, associate
professor and sport psychology consultant at Duke University, will each speak
when the 38th annual WADA Workshop takes place Nov. 7-9 at the Radisson Paper
Valley Hotel.
Borseth will be the keynote speaker for the
Opening Session on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 7. His talk will be “Coaching Coaches.”
Dale will be the keynote speaker on the morning
of Monday, Nov. 8. His talk will
focus on “Developing the Credible Coach – A Model for Success.”
Borseth
The UW-Green Bay women’s basketball team
continues to rise under Borseth. In 17 seasons as an NCAA collegiate head
coach, six at UW-Green Bay, he put Titletown in the national spotlight with
the team's first-ever NCAA tournament win when the team defeated Washington
in 2003. His
teams have been in
post-season play in each of his years at UWGB.
His
2003-04 squad's record-breaking record was the best in team history, and the
most in the history of the Horizon League. The Phoenix also enjoyed a 14-week
stint as a top 25 team, according to major national polls, peaking at #16 in
the nation in mid-January.
Borseth
has guided UWGB to 6 straight Horizon League titles, and earned an
unprecenteded 5th Coach of the Year honors in his 6 seasons at UWGB… where
his teams have a 97-11 league record – including an incredible 17-1 mark in
the conference tournament – despite having just 8 players on his 2003-04
roster due to injuries.
Dale
As a
professor, Dr. Dale teaches classes in performance enhancement, sport
psychology
and sport ethics. As a sport psychology consultant, he works with coaches and
athletes on the
mental aspects of performance
excellence.
In
addition to his work with athletes and coaches at Duke,
Greg consults with coaches and athletes in professional football, soccer,
baseball, basketball, golf, track and field, and tennis.
Greg is
a former middle and high school coach in New York City and San Antonio,
Texas. A certified sport
psychology consultant by
The Association for the Advancement of Applied Sport Psychology and is a member of the sport psychology
staff for USA Track and Field, Dale is a co-author of the book, “The Seven
Secrets of Successful Coaches: How to Unlock and Unleash Your Team’s Full
Potential.”
