WADA STRATEGIC PLANNING HELD
Friday & Saturday, April 25 & 26, 2008
WIAA Office – Stevens Point

Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association (WADA)

Individuals spent nearly two full days in a comprehensive Strategic Planning session, as many aspects regarding the future of the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association (WADA) were discussed.

The details will be presented and reviewed in June, 2008 by the

WADA Executive Board, and the WADA membership will
vote this fall on a proposed change in the Mission, Vision and
Purpose statement.

The focus of the “WADA Working Weekend” was to enable

the organization to plan for the future direction for the WADA,
which is dedicated to serving all athletic directors and athletic
administrators at high schools and middle schools in Wisconsin.

The 2-day event was held at the WIAA Office in Stevens Point on Friday & Saturday,
April 25 & 26, 2008.  One of the major items that came from the extensive discussions,
to be voted on at the 2008 WADA Annual Meeting, is a proposed change in the wording of

the organization’s Mission, Vision and Purpose statement.  That document was last approved

in November, 2004.

Those invited to the event came from among a group including current members of the

WADA Executive Board, Past Presidents of the WADA, and the current members

of the WIAA Sports Advisory Committee.

Russ Gerke, principal at West De Pere High School, was the facilitator for the sessions.
Bill Vickroy CAA of Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School and WADA Past President,
was the coordinator of the event, which had been planned by the WADA Board at numerous
meetings during the past year – including its meeting held in Madison in March in conjunction
with the 2008 WIAA Boys State Basketball Tournament.

The sessions asked attendees to “step outside the box” to envision what WADA will become

in the next 3 to 5 years.  It has been determined by the WADA Executive Board that the

organization needs to be more than just a Workshop-based entity.
